OUR BELIEFS

  • God the Father: First Member of the Trinity (One God in 3 persons) who is the head. God is holy and just. God is Love. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He desires to spend eternity with us and prepares a way through Christ to redeem us from our sins so that we might become holy sons and daughters of God (Ex 15:11, Jer 10:10, Jn 4:24, 2 Cor 13:14, Rom 1:20).

  • Jesus Christ: The second member of the trinity (God the Son) who was born from the virgin Mary, lived a perfect, righteous life, and died on the cross for our sins. He is fully God and fully man. He is raised from the dead and seated at the Father’s right hand (Mt 16:21-26, Acts 2:36-37, Eph 1:7).

  • The Holy Spirit: The third member of the trinity (God the Spirit) who indwells the lives of believers, convicts us when in sin, and empowers us to live godly lives (2 Cor 13:14, Jn 14:26).

  • Satan: A fallen angel and deceiver who seeks to defeat God and destroy all that God has created, loves, and has declared as good, including God’s children (Lk 10:18, Jn 8:44, Ja 4:7, 1 Pet 5:8).

  • Salvation: By grace through faith in Christ alone- His death for our sins, and resurrection from the grave (Jn 3:16, Eph 2:8-9).

  • Humanity: Since the Fall, mankind has inherited a sinful nature and is separated from God. Humanity is created, Male and Female (2 genders)– equal in value and worth but separate in roles (Gen 2, Eph 5:21-33, I Tim 2:12).

  • Marriage: God created marriage to be a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman (Gen 2:18-25, Mt 19:4-6).

  • The Scriptures: All Scripture is inerrant, infallible, and inspired by God for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16).

  • The Church: God’s bride / Christ’s body was established as a community of believers to encourage one another in the Christian faith through teaching, prayer, fellowship, accountability, and mutual edification (Eph 1:22-23).

  • The Virgin Birth: Jesus was born of a virgin Mary, whose womb was not “seeded” by a man but who was filled with the Spirit (Mt 1:18).

  • The Crucifixion: Jesus, who was sinless, died on the cross for our sins. He was tortured, ridiculed, and crucified by Pontius Pilate under pressure from the Jewish leaders (Mt 27, Mk 15, Lk 23, Jn 19).

  • The Resurrection: Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. He spoke with the disciples and was seen by over 500 people (Mt 28:1-10, 1 Cor 15:1-8).

  • Baptism: A decision by a believer that declares before others they are following Jesus by becoming fully immersed in water and rising to a new life in Christ (Mt 3:13-17, Acts 16:33, Col 2:12).

  • The Lord’s Supper: “Do this in remembrance of me.” A repeated activity of faith when a believer remembers and acknowledges that Christ died for us on the cross. The bread and wine represent his body broken and blood shed for us (Lk 22:19, 1 Cor 11:24-25).

  • Substitution: Theological term that explains that Jesus took the penalty we deserved – death. “For the wages of sin is death.” Jesus became our substitute on the cross by receiving the punishment for our sins that we deserved (Rom 6:23, 2 Cor 5:21, 1 Pet 3:18).

  • Justification: God pronounces believers as righteous and holy not by our own acts but by faith in Christ. It is made possible by God’s grace alone and through the redemption that came through Christ (Rom 3:23, 4:25, 5:9).

  • Sanctification: The continued process of God at work in overcoming sin from our lives and conforming us to the likeness of Christ (Rom 8:29-30).

  • Glorification: The final step of sanctification is when we become like Christ and are without sin in our eternal state (1 Jn 3:2).
